A Grand Scale, originally uploaded by nrillustration.
When I paint I tend to concentrate so much on the subject matter, I lose it when it comes to the background, so I've been looking up artists that do a nice job focusing on settings. This is "Looking Down Yosemite Valley" by Albert Bierstadt (1865). Background is his only subject here and he does it so well and on such a grand scale, there's no need for anything else.
