Pure Alchemy

Fun new design toy! Karl D.D. Willis and Jacob Hina have developed a simple but very cool drawing program called Alchemy. It's easier to show than it is to explain in words so check out their demo here. In short, it draws random images on a page in response to keyboard, mouse and sound (yes, sound) input. You do have some control over the result but it's limited. When you're done, you can save the file as a series of VECTORS! Which I find very exciting.

The idea is for you to use Alchemy as a tool to juice up the creative process. The images shown above by Nicolas Francoeur demonstrate the transition from Alchemy inspiration (left) to finished artwork (right).

If you like design or technology at all, you should really give it a shot. It's an incredibly simple program so no painful learning curve, plus it's free! What more could you ask?
