The Making of... Raining Paradise

Klimt, originally uploaded by nrillustration.

In Gustav Klimt's beautiful paintings, he fills backgrounds and clothing with with decorative patterns. I especially love his vertical pattern lines (shown best in the middle picture)-they are the inspiration for NokHoo's Raining Paradise bag.

Paintings left to right: "The Kiss", "Portrait of Emilie Floge" and "Farm Garden with Sunflowers".

Gathering the right thread and beads for this bag took some doing, and just when I thought I was done, I had to stitch my own sample piece to show the embroiderers what I had in mind. The initial idea was to make this bag from heavy silk but that was perhaps a bit ambitious...

Raining Paradise sees the light! I love the gentle color combo plus some shine from the beading-it really does make me think of rain.
