After watching an episode of Antiques Roadshow, my dad sent me some links about about Bern Hill-a mid-century artist who did a lot of work with transportation advertising. I'd seen his work before but hadn't looked very closely until now. More than anything, his compositions are extraordinary. Instead of emphasizing the trains/planes, he brilliantly focuses on the scenery (ie the opportunities transportation brings you).
There's surprisingly little mentioned about him on the internet, I couldn't even Wikipedia him. He definitely deserves a little more attention for his incredible work.
